You will need: brown sugar, cacao powder, plain flour, milk,
vanilla powder, eggs at room temperature, salt, baking powder
and most important: chocolate
Step one is the preparation
Heat up your oven to about 175-180 degrees celsius
And cover the bottom of a cake tin with baking paper (optional)
Now over to Step two
Break 200 g of your favourite chocolate into bits
(I used both milk chocolate and dark chocolate)
Take 1 dl of cocoa powder
(or more if you are using only milk chocolate
it's up to you!)
And cover the delicious chocolate
Step three, put 1-1½ dl brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of plain flour
and ½ teaspoon of salt into a small saucepan
Whisk in some milk so the ingrediences mix together nicely
Now turn the stove plate onto medium heat
And continue pouring milk into the pan while whisking
(you should add a total of 2,25 dl milk)
After a while the mixture will start to thicken
and this is where it becomes very important to stir constantly
(you don't want to burn the whole lot and have to start over do you!)
When it looks something like this you are almost done
with whisking and hurting your arm (for a little while at least)
Pour the thick mixture into the large bowl with chocolate and cocoa
Mix it together quickly until it looks like this phenomenal darling
Add 2 egg yolks (save the whites for Chist's sake!)
and 1 teaspoon of vanilla powder
Mix together and it will look shiny like this
Welcome to Step four
Now take the 2 eggwhites and add 1 more
into a smaller glass bowl, and also add 2 "krm" of baking powder
This may seem strange but hold on baby!
Start whisking like a lunatic until the clumps of baking powder dissolve
and the egg whites start foaming up
The baking soda helps the air bubbles to form, and that is exactly what we want here
because you are going to whip the egg whites to a thick foam
It should look somewhat like this within a few minutes if you are doing it correctly
Now add ½ dl of sugar (not all at the same time)
and continue your hard admirable work
You are not finished with this until you can flip the bowl
upside down over your head without getting it all in your face
Add the meringue into the large bowl and mix together well
Remember, this is not a tiger cake in the making
Now the chocolate cake batter is complete
and by now it should smell heavenly
Are we at Step 5 already? Oh well!
Pour the whole thing into the cake tin you prepared before
Start boiling 1½-2 L water
While waiting: eat the batter left in the bowl (important!)
When the water is warm, put your cake tin in a larger pan
with minimum 5 cm depth, and place in the lower part of your oven
Pour the water into the larger pan
Close the oven and wait for your chocolate cake to bake
This will take by estimate 20-30 minutes depending on your oven
When the cake is ready the surface should be solid enough to touch
and it should spring back instantly
Did you think it was ready to eat now?!
I am sorry to tell you that it is supposed to settle
for at least 1-2 days in the fridge before consumption
Cover it with some plastic foil after it has cooled
Good luck with the wait, mate!
